World banks doing business ranks economies around the world based on ease of doing business. This ranking is determined by sorting aggregates consisting of several indicators. A high ease of doing business means the regulatory environment is relatively more conducive to starting and operating a local firm. Nigeria till now has ranked low in the World Bank's Doing Business index.

Nigeria's system of Company Law and Corporate Governance is a critical part of the legal framework that determines the legal basis by which companies are formed, operated and governed. The Companies and Allied Matters Decree No. 1 of 1990, amended in 2004 to Companies and Allied Matters Act, Cap. C20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 establishes the Corporate Affairs Commission and sets the rules guiding the general administration of Companies in Nigeria.
